Fayetteville — The Arkansas Razorbacks lost their 6 straight game in an unexpected 51-14 loss to a bye week. The loss puts Arkansas at 3-6 on the season, and is the 3rd straight week where opponents have scored over 50 points on the Razorbacks.
Arkansas got off to a hot start with a 87 yard scoring drive that ended in a 29 yard touchdown run by Alex Collins. They were then able to hold off the Bye Week’s drive with a quick 3 and out. On the following drive the Razorbacks’ offense stalled on the 40 yard line when they failed a 4th down conversion.
The Bye Week scored 6 straight touchdowns to go up 42-7, and put the game out of reach. In that stretch Arkansas turned the ball over 8 times including 6 interceptions by Brandon Allen that were returned for touchdowns.
Arkansas scored again at the start of the 4th quarter on a 74 yard run by Collins making the score 42-14. On the next Arkansas drive Brandon Allen fell down in his own end zone, resulting in a safety and re-injuring his shoulder. Derby threw an interception on his only pass in the final seconds of the 4th quarter that was returned for a touchdown.
“This loss is heartbreaking, I didn’t even know you could lose in a bye week. I knew better than to coach a game without my windbreaker,” Head Coach Bret Bielema said in his post-game press conference. “I really feel like we are beating ourselves in these games. There really is no other explanation. Especially when there is not even another opponent on the field and you get the same result.”
Arkansas finished the game with 917 total yards that included 6 passing yards and 911 rushing yards. Despite losing, Collins was named the player of the game for his 641 yard rushing performance. Allen went 2 for 46 for 6 yards and 6 interceptions. The Bye week did not account for any yardage, but was credited with 10 turnovers.
Arkansas plays Auburn next week in Fayetteville in Gus Malzahn’s first return to Razorback Stadium as a head coach. Arkansas is currently 0-1 against former Arkansas State coaches in the SEC.

Hahaha! Not funny at all. Pretty low down if you ask me.
As a true hog fan I will let you haveyour joke this year but in the future youwill be writting about nerver yield Razorbacks win the SEC. GO HOG GO
Wtf does never yield even mean?? Linguistic dead end. Never yield all you want. You still lose.
Typical of most Arkansas fans, Short memory and even shorter fuses. Poor bastard is dealing with two years of left over crap and you expect a conference championship… Comedy or not, it certainly is divisive… We need top shelf recruits, this kind of fickle diatribe won’t help…
Check your math Greg.
Someone said in the comments the Hogs would be bowl eligible if they played in the PAC12, the Big12 or B1G. May I ask what planet do you live on? Rutgers there only BCS conference opponent beat Arkansas. I hate to say it Arkansas would be dog chow in every other BCS conference. The only conferences they would be bowl eligible in would be the Sun Belt, The MAC, Conference USA, the WAC or the Mountain West. I am a Hog fan but I am a realist. They suck such is the narrative of Hog football in the last 25 years-a few decent years followed by 4-5 terrible years on average.
That made me laugh!!! It will get better……

This is just a mean spirited sports commentary by an obviously disgruntled,Ahem, Razorback fan. Give the new coach and the Kids a break. Given time they will bring the team back to the point we will again be proud of them.
LMBO!

No the ”kids” don’t deserve a break. Just like ”Hog” fans to have rose colored glasses on. I’ve been a Hog fan my whole life and will until I die but that doesn’t mean they’re gonna get a pat on the back from me for QUITTING in the South Carolina game. I personally don’t care about the Alabama game but Homecoming against a mediocre South Carolina team to just QUIT like that is awful. I don’t mind losing when this team is this young but show some effort and emotion especially on HOMECOMING. They didn’t and lost 52-7 to a team that turned around and lost to Tenessee the next week. Unacceptable. And I know a lot of people will go off but I don’t care. It’s the truth. No problem losing but big problem quitting.
Hahaha! Good stuff.
Eat something nasty and die, Greg Jones
Now you are just being mean. But I can’t be mad at you.
B wasn’t left with much, give him a chance. Still made me laugh. WPS
This is funny…you really had me going.
I thought this was a serious piece til I got to
Sorry, I have an aversion to colleges that field professional football teams and don’t pay the players.
I’m a “Real Hog fan” but that don’t this is simply a joke, relax don’t take everything so serious. Sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying.
Go ASU! Or at least our former head coaches
