Bobby Petrino Leading Candidate for Louisville Job, Interview This Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky – We have confirmed sources telling us that Former Razorback and Cardinal coach Bobby Petrino is scheduled to be interviewed by the University of Louisville Monday. The Louisville head football coach job became open this yesterday following the departure of Charlie Strong to the University of Texas.

Bobby Petrino previously coached at Louisville from 2003-2006 leading the Cardinals to a 41-9 overall record and a victory in the 2007 Orange Bowl.

Following his time at Louisville Petrino spent one season with the Atlanta Falcons then four seasons with the Razorbacks before being fired due to conduct detrimental to the program. Petrino is currently the coach of Western Kentucky.

“I am really excited about a possible return to Louisville,” Coach Petrino told us by phone this afternoon. “The girls at Western Kentucky look like milk maids compared to Louisville. I may as well have gone back to Wyoming. This was a very long and disappointing season to say the least.”

Later in the call Petrino told us he recently purchased a “cardinal red” Can-Am Spyder. He told us the three-wheel motor cycle is far more stable than his previous Harley, and is nearly impossible to slide off into a ditch.
