Daft Punk Win Bobsled Gold for French

KRASNAYA POLYANA, Russia — Grammy-winning electronic music duo Daft Punk continued their winning ways today as they took the Gold medal for the French bobsled team. Driver Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo teamed with longtime collaborator and brakeman Thomas Bangalter to stun the Russian crowd with their surprise win.

“The robots are very pleased with their performance,” said French team trainer Jacques Luther. “They would like to thank their many supporters, musical and otherwise.”

With the victory, Daft Punk gave France its first bobsled medal since the 1998 Nagano winter games. The duo finished 0.66 seconds ahead of the American team of driver Ben Haggerty and brakeman Ryan Lewis.

The electronic music pioneers recently won Grammys for record and album of the year, for “Get Lucky” and “Random Access Memories,” respectively.
