Local Radio Station Launches “Rock Bottom in the Rock” Concert Series

Local radio station The Edge 100.3 announced today a new concert series called “Rock Bottom in the Rock” that pairs washed-up musicians with a free concert in front of at least a dozen fans on a random Tuesday at Noon in the River Market District of Little Rock.

The inaugural concert in the series is set to take place tomorrow featuring former Creed frontman Scott Stapp. The concert will take place in the eastern portion of the Rivermarket pavilion.

“The series features disgraced musicians who really thought their careers couldn’t get any lower. Then we set them up with a free concert at lunchtime on a sub-prime day inside a small southern city to see how they feel,” The Edge concert director Roca Fondo explains. “When we were looking for first act to play we all knew it had to be Scott Stapp.”

Stapp’s pseudo-Christian rock band Creed rose to prominence in the early 90’s before spiraling out of control later. Stapp’s last attempt to play in Little Rock was the 2018 River Fest, which ultimately rejected his application in favor of Lyon Gospel Choir.

The outdoor concert series is expected to continue twice a month on Tuesdays at 12pm through the winter. Future acts include Chumbawamba, Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit, John Rich from the country band Big & Rich, Ceelo Green, just the Blowfish from Hootie and the Blowfish, and Rick Astley.

“We have a feeling this is going to be a great concert series,” Fondo continues. “We decided to wave admission and give away signed memorabilia just to ensure at least someone shows up. We all have bets on how many artists break down and cry during the concert, I’ve got my money on all of them.”

To further help promote the Edge is giving away a free taco to the first 7 attendees. They plan to hand out the 4 remaining tacos after the show as well if you cannot make it.
